Wayne, Radnor Township
Delaware County, Pennsylvania
Penn Real Estate Group developed the first Bertucci’s restaurant in Pennsylvania. Bertucci’s, known for its brick-oven pizza and casual, high-quality restaurants had identified Philadelphia’s Main Line as a desired market. As a consequence of Penn Real Estate Group’s familiarity with the Main Line, Bertucci’s selected Penn Real Estate as its developer for this particular location. Development challenges included the removal of underground storage tanks on the property which extended under existing structures and the removal of an historic seventy-ton train car from the site (which required obtaining approvals to close one of the main east-west highways into Philadelphia) in order to permit the development of the project. In addition, Bertucci’s elected to have Penn Real Estate Group secure the requisite liquor license permitting the sale of alcoholic beverages on the Property. Penn Real Estate Group handled this unusual permitting assignment and coordinated it with obtaining all other development approvals and the construction of the project. Upon completion, the Radnor Township Design Review Board presented two awards to this project. |
